The election results are in and I would like to take this time to congratulate John Carney on his victory. I don’t think anyone is surprised by the end result. All polls available pointed to Democrat victories in the Federal races.
Although I'd hoped we'd make a better showing, there are many positives to be taken from this election. Despite the fact that voter turnout was 40% less than 2012, we received 8% more votes in total. Taking that 40% turnout number into account, my vote totals in EVERY Representative District increased between 23% - 175%! Unadjusted, my totals increased in 51% of the Districts. We moved up to 3rd in Sussex County. And, we did all this with 41% less funds than 2012. I am truly humbled by everyone's support.
I would like to thank my family for all their support throughout the campaign. Without them, I would have not been able to do this. My five year old daughter Virginia is the best campaign sign placer in the Brandywine Hundred! I’d also like to thank all my supporters who worked directly or indirectly on my campaign (you know who you are). And finally, I’d like to thank the 4,419 people that entrusted me with your vote. I’m disappointed that I will not be able to represent you in DC the next two years. But your support for me shows the political establishment in Delaware that our ranks are growing and we will be a force to reckon with in the years to come. Again, thank you and God bless you.
